Winterswijk: Village Center

The village of Winterswijk is small and quaint, lying on the eastern border near Germany. It is the residence of neoplastic artist Piet Mondrian (from which the YSL Mondrian dress derives). It is in one word: adorable.

The tiniest brasserie between two larger buildings! (see below)

In the park, you can sit on a Mondrian bench and see what he saw when he painted Winterswijk. The bench and frame look so out of place amidst the town and landscape, but it was cool to imagine him sitting there, dreaming and painting away.
