First things first: I bought this coat in 2001 at a store at what we BR people call "the old mall." Back when fuzzy sweaters were making their first go round along with hippie everything, this came home with me complete with a full outfit to match. I distinctly remember wearing this Wal*Mart elastic platforms slides with it. Faux patent leather may have been involved as well.
Though I have since tossed my slides and one-size-fits-all popcorn shirts, I could never bear to give up this coat. It may be the Elmo-esque qualities of it. I knew that I would want to wear it one day and, if I didn't still have it, I would regret giving it up. In my closet it stayed.
To tone down the awesomeness that is a red fuzzy coat, I went with neutrals for the rest of my outfit. A cozy grey sweater and my favorite pants kept me warm and free for my post-holiday body. Too many bites of my sister's homemade chocolate fudge is enough to make me wish I had a few more pairs of these leggings. They are thick enough to pass as pants and cool enough to distract from the fact that the waist is elastic. Win-Win? I dare to say it.
