Not that I will brave the mass crowds to save a few bucks, but here is some Black Friday outfit inspiration if you are one of those brave souls! I have only done BF once on accident and vow only to participate in Cyber Monday… without crowds… in the comfort of my own home. Plus, snail mail is my favorite!
Shopping in the winter is probably the most trying time, am I right? When it's freezing outside, the store is a sweat box. Layers of clothing get heavy for long shopping trips. Dressing rooms are just a disaster! A coat, a sweater, a shirt. A hat? That mirror makes you regret taking it off to slip something over your head. And boots? Ha! Trying on shoes in the aisles is the absolute worst when you are wearing boots.
Cute sweats are easy for trying on clothes, warm, and super soft when you get a few hours of sleep. Not to mention the extra room post-turkey fest! A basic white tee and a cool vegan leather jacket pair perfectly with easy to slip-on sneakers and an infinity scarf.
PS: I found this exact jacket at my local TJ Maxx 2 days ago for $60. TJ's FTW!

Life has been somewhat hectic lately with school, family, holidays, school, school, school, so in an effort of full disclosure, these photos were taken over a week ago. I remember being in an especially drapey fabric mood and pulling out this dress, suddenly remembering that I had forgotten it. Note to self: closet clean out over semester break! This poor sweater, guys… I am wearing it down this season and after 3 years, I'm so happy it is only now starting to show wear & tear. I am on the hunt for a replacement. That, however, is like finding a new pair of black pumps: the moment you find a good pair, start looking for new ones because those babies are hard to come by!

I am usually not much of a jeans & tee girl, but the second you add glitter loafers, I. Am. Sold. Studded belt? Don't mind if I do! Statement necklace? Well, sure.
PS: I wish Levi's would bring back this 50s cut men's tee. I only bought one and wish I had the entire inventory. Anyone know of any close to it? The cut is shorter & boxier… less Adam Levine and more like what James Dean would wear.

I wore this outfit about a month ago (I know…) to the Michael Bublé concert in New Orleans! It was my 5th time seeing him and he was just as great as the first time! He is such an overall entertainer and keeps a smile on your face the entire time. If you've never see him live, I highly suggest you find a show ASAP. You won't regret it!
Anyway, my leather skirt has been a staple in my wardrobe this season even more than usual. I usually never wore it with flats because the skirt hit me at a weird spot and made me look short. Now, though, I think with the right shoes, the proportions balance out. Tucking in my blouse makes my legs appear longer since the skirt is high waisted, while a long cardigan breaks up a long line of black on my bottom half. Dressing is such a science, especially for us petite gals, wouldn't you say?

These photos were taken mere hours before my hard drive crashed, but they were still on my memory card (luckily I hadn't erased it)! This particular day I had only 2 morning classes and then the rest of the day off. Days like that are hard for my wardrobe choices, as I usually go straight home & immediately put on bum clothes :)
To stay cute and comfortable, I went with my trusty printed leggings (worn as pants… don't judge), a loose blouse, and my stolen-from-my-brother jacket. In the last few weeks since digging the jacket out of his "toss" pile I have worn it a dozen times. It is just big enough for layering, makes a cool silhouette when paired with slim bottoms, and army green goes with so much in my closet already. Anytime I shop retail these days I automatically make my way to the men's section first in search for sweaters & jackets. Women's "boyfriend" cuts just don't do it for my body. They still have a lot of curve in them, and I prefer to find the smallest men's size & let my curves show off, rather than have the clothes do it for me. Though the men's section is more boxy, I try to balance those pieces with showing curves elsewhere, like in these leggings. Then, to keep from being a stick, sturdy boots ground the silhouette.
How do you balance your curves with tomboy shapes?

LSU's fashion club, Hemline, is hosting their annual trunk show starting tomorrow! Some of the names on the schedule should look familiar to you from NOLAFW events. A portion of the trunk show proceeds go to the club to raise funds for their spring fashion show that showcases the junior and senior work. Get your wallets out & head over to the Human Ecology building Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday to see some great pieces from local names! And if you happen to see me around the building, say hi!

First, let me say that it's good to be back in the blogging world! After a full week without my computer as a result of my hard drive crashing (yay…), I feel complete again.
