Fiery

Thanks, Krystal for the photos!

Breakdown:
tank- NY & Company [similar]
skirt- self-made
shoes- Liz Claiborne
necklace & rings- thrifted, vintage [similar necklace]

My closet surprises me sometimes. I have a lot of clothes (a lot) and the special pieces can get lost in the shuffle. This skirt is one of those special pieces I love, but rarely wear. The only way I can think of to style it is with black to keep the focus on the skirt. It has a simple shape, so something tight on top looks best in terms of silhouette. The print on the fabric is one of my favorites of all time and I wish I would have bought the rest of the bold as well as the purple, green, and blue version of it-- and it was on sale! Oh, regrets.

Americana with Haute Off the Rack & A Pinch of Lovely

The final collaboration with A Pinch of Lovely & Haute Off the Rack this week is all about embracing our American spirit to get ready for your 4th of July celebrations! We each went in totally different directions and that is why it works so well. Not everyone at a party is going to be dressed alike, and you definitely want to stand out! I love Jenn's flamingo swim top and denim cutoffs-- her vibe is California cool and makes me want to watch old episodes of Laguna Beach on Netflix. Krystal's look is adorable for a backyard barbecue with friends & family. And those heart shades? Too cute.

red & white necklaces- thrifted, vintage

I wanted to go all out for this Americana theme-- and I think I totally did. This fringe bikini top I scored at Target is a great fit and the fringe gives it a little extra oomph. Target has always been a go-to for cute & inexpensive swimwear for me. It's an easy way to try a trend without spending a wad of cash! All you need with this bikini is a breezy cover up and classic Keds & you're set for going from the pool to fireworks.

And loads of necklaces. Always loads of necklaces.

Don't forget to check out Haute Off the Rack & A Pinch of Lovely for their takes on Americana!

Bonus outtake: fish face. cross eyed. pure attraction.

Coast to Coast Style: Americana

Breakdown:
dress (worn as top)- c/o Shabby Apple [similar]
belt, bracelets, rings- vintage, thrifted/gifted
sandals- Bandolino via TJ Maxx

There is no better time of year to let your freak flag fly than 4th of July celebrations! It is the epitome of Americana style but you don't have to limit yourself to cutoffs and a flag tank. Not that I am opposed to them. When Dani & I decided to do Americana for this month's Coast to Coast Style I racked my brain for weeks for what to wear! This outfit came to me in a late night I-can't-sleep-so-I-will-outfit-plan and, though it may seem crazy, I think it actually works. Yeah yeah yeah... I mixed prints and I look like a weirdo, but the only way I could look more like a flag is if I'd worn my plastic yellow star bracelet. Next time, next time.

On to Dani...

Breakdown:
blouse- Ralph Lauren
jeans- Seven for All Mankind
belt- Target
sandals- Kohl's

What I have always loved about Dani's style is how easy it is. So relaxed. Like you're just hanging out with her sipping an Icee. I've never sipped an Icee with her, but I have been to Sonic with her-- does that count?

This look from Dani represents that American ease that the rest of the world pokes fun at us for! A cute bandana-print blouse, boyfriend jeans in a great wash, and comfy sandals make the world go round. And you can't get more American than a bandana. I mean...

Head over to The Daily Dani to see more!

Now we want to see your Americana looks!

The You Are Project: Guest Post from Lauren

Hi everyone!

My name is Lauren, and I’m the co-founder and Web Manager for The You Are Project, an online magazine for Christian women.

Our Vision

The mission of The You Are Project is to help women discover WHO THEY ARE in Christ. Once we know who God created us to be and are confident in Him, amazing things begin to happen:

1. Our confidence, paired with a Godly love for others, will draw people out of their insecurity. I firmly believe that a compliment or support from a confident woman has more power than we realize. Our confidence isn’t for ourselves-- it is meant to change the people around us.

2. Jealously will evaporate, and relationships between women will be restored. Our unity is a weapon, and will further destroy the enemy’s strongholds on us.

3. We will be unafraid to use our passion and God-given talents in the way that He asks us to.

Can you imagine what God could do with a group of women who are confident, strong, unified, and in love with Him? The world would never be the same! Catherine (my co-founder) and I dream of seeing women set free and seeing this vision realized.

A Day MuuMuu's Fraternal Twin

Breakdown:
sandals- Bandolino via TJ Maxx
peace bracelet- World Market
other jewelry- vintage, thrifted

We all know how much I love a good muumuu, especially when they are short enough for day and in a great print! I scored this dress at the local BR clearance Dillard's-- much like an Off 5th or Nordstrom Rack. You have to dig, but you are pretty much guaranteed to find a few treasures! As an expert thrifter, I am not opposed to a good hunt so this store is a no-brainer. Dressing rooms are scarce and the merchandise organization is lacking, but when all women's blouses are BOGO? I can deal with a little chaos

PS: I would love to tell you that I have found this on mega sale online, but I can't even find its history soooooo I guess it never existed. But I highly recommend the C&V brand! Everything I own from them is well-loved and won't break the bank. If you're a boho chic gal, check them out. (No, I'm not getting paid to say that, I just really like them!)

Check out my new 225 Magazine blog that launched this morning! I'll be posting 2x a week & will link back to them so you can check them out.

70s-esque Ease

Breakdown:
tank- BCBG via Marshall's
pants- Max Edition via Stein Mart
sandals- Bandolino via TJ Maxx
jewelry- thrifted & vintage
clutch- MawMaw'd

I've written before about stores that surprise me with the quality and modernity of their merchandise, and these pants are a direct result of that! Stein Mart has always been known for their flamingo print skort sets and odd items. That is why my stumbling upon these loose spandex heart-print pants was such a treat! The hearts are all different shapes and the material feels like my old jazz dance pants from middle school... so they're awesome and feel like PJs. I folded the waistband down for a better fit and I really like the look of them in a lower rise-- it makes them more relaxed and modern but still keeps the cool 70s vibe. Because these pants are a statement all their own, I kept it plain on top and donned a little gold jewelry to add shine. The gold accessories also help keep the outfit from looking like pajamas, which is a major bonus, despite the rise of magazine editors wearing pajamas for daytime looks.

Retro with Haute Off the Rack & A Pinch of Lovely

I am super stoked about this week's swimwear collaboration with Haute Off the Rack & A Pinch of Lovely! We chose to channel our inner retro swim goddess and each have our own vibe and interpretation that I feel sure you'll just love. Jenn went with a fun vacation style with a crop top and a colorful maxi, while Krystal went with a relaxed 70s vibe. Scroll down for more details!

Breakdown:
1950s Catalina swimsuit- Time Warp Vintage [updated style]
clutch, belt, jewelry- vintage
shoes- Elie Tahari via TJ Maxx

Every girl has that one dress in her closet that makes her feel bombshell chic-- usually an LBD or a red dress-- but this swimsuit does that for me. I have been on the hunt for the perfect vintage swimsuit for a few years now but have had trouble with fit and quality of fabric preservation. The minute I spotted this one in Time Warp, though... all bets were off! I tried it on and BAM! It had to go home with me! The elastic is still good, the fabric is in great condition, and it makes me feel better than any bikini I've ever worn.

Never underestimate the appeal of a one piece.
