Ladylike Tuxedo

Breakdown:

Rarely do I have an occasion to sport a cocktail dress, but when I do I try to be the most over dressed person in the room. The Heritage Ranch Gala is one of my favorite events of the year and I love seeing so many fellow Baton Rougeans support my friend, Vicki, and the organization that was put on her heart before she knew letters happened in math, too. The event gets larger every year, which is such an encouragement! This year, the silent auction table was full of temptation and the food was so so so good. The double chocolate cake bites from Nothing Bundt Cakes were other worldy. Like a brownie, but cake, but then some sort of great frosting (and I don't like frosting) came together in a single bite and then you wished there were two. *sigh*

I rescued this dress from the rubble of the LSU Closet Sale a few years ago, had it altered immediately, and never wore it. It has been sitting in my closet, likely feeling rejected after being passed over in favor of new dresses. But it's like The Byrds said, "And a time to every purpose, under Heaven." I prefer to think that my ladylike tuxedo has been brewing on the hanger and preparing for its debut. Getting better with age, patiently awaiting its moment of reveal, and becoming ready for its moment.

My clothes are nice like that, so patient.
