Oh, impulse purchases! How you lure me in with good prices but without warning of the regret-to-be! This dress from the Jason Wu collection for Target was an impulse buy. Sure, most things I buy from Target are bought under what I like to call, “The Target Spell.” You know the drill… you walk in to buy shampoo and walk out with a cart full of stuff you forgot you needed after blacking out and then you find a yard flamingo when you unpack with no recollection of ripping it off the shelf.

But about the outfit! The color combination of blush, marigold, and black is not one I would have instantly put together. However, they are surprisingly complimentary. The black trim is what really sells me, though. Lace trim has, in the past, been associated to redeeming high water jeans in my mind. The subtlety defines shapes on the dress while the vertical pleats oppose the horizontal stripes in the pattern. All of these elements create shape and smartly have a whimsical effect when put together. Add a mini semi-spread collar and a bow belt and you have the perfect touches to a fun dress that totally warrants an impulse buy!

That’s what I will tell myself, at least.
