Coast to Coast Style: GNO

I am super excited to reveal Dani, my blogger BFF, and my's first ever Coast to Coast collaboration! Each month, Dani and I will think of an event, trend, or outfit inspiration to challenge ourselves with. She is West Coast, I am Gulf Coast. Our regions' perspective on style is totally different, so we want to show you how we would style these events or trends while staying true to our area. Sure, a wedding here on the Gulf Coast may constitute a camouflage bridesmaid dress, but it certainly doesn't have to!

I hope you are all as excited as Dani and I are about the collaborations to come! Enjoy!

Breakdown:
blouse- TJ Maxx
jeans- Levi's men's 511 skinny [same]
shoes- Naturalizer [old]
bag- DKNY via TJ Maxx
necklace- c/o BPJ [I'm obsessed... for real]

I chose to have more of a boyish take on the Girl's Night Out [GNO] theme. I do not wear much pink, and red just felt too... Valentine-y. Purple is still girly, but the men's jeans balance out the frill of the blouse by keeping the shape boxy. Most women would never intentionally go for a boxy shape, but I like to play it up with girly touches. T-strap heels are always girl-friendly and who can resist a super-duper-on-sale eggplant calf hair & leather chain strap clutch? No one, that's who.

Oh, and don't be afraid to wander to "the other side of the store" to get the hook-up on jeans. Somehow, the cut of the men's jeans fit my body better. Don't ask why. Just sprint over to your local denim shop and give it a shot! But don't forget to look both ways!

On to Dani...

Breakdown:
blazer, dress, & wedges: F21
clutch & square ring: Nordstrom [gifted]
flower rings: Juicy Couture
necklace: Sandtattoo
belt: Kohl's

I love how Dani also strayed away from the typical "Valentine's Day" hues and stuck to something fun, sophisticated, but with a touch of bohemia! Her dress & necklace say, "I'm sweet." Her blazer says, "I mean business." Her polka dot clutch says, "I'm quirky." And her floral platforms say, "Yeah, try an' mess wif me in deez killa heelz." I love it, I love it, I love it!
