I am in a funny funny mood today. Giddy, even. I had a terrible time attempting to sleep last night and I taught this morning in delirium. My 2nd graders didn't seem alarmed, though. Their mouths were full of fried alligator and sugar cane... so that may have something to do with it.

Oh, you know, just flailing around various appendages in the parking lot. But look at that excellent flexion in my left foot!

Why yes, that is a slight sunburn I'm sporting on my legs. That's how we celebrate the first day of fall here in the south... by laying out by the pool.

Some days you just need to wear your 1940s dress that makes you feel like Kate Beckinsale in Pearl Harbor. I won't be plugging up an artery with my fingers, though. I wouldn't even know how to get stains out of this silk!

-Sarah

PS: Would anyone know where I could find a pretty full slip? I don't want something too lingerie-esque, but I also don't want grandma. Help, please!

My shirt is orange and I don't wear orange

Breakdown:
tee, shorts, belt (entire wardrobe)- Gap
sandals- Sam Edelman via Dillard's (Labor Day sale fo' cheap)
jewelry- thrifted & gifted

Guys, I am having a phenomenal hair day today. It is currently 6 p.m. and my hair is still HUGE! Most people like their hair to be tame, silky, and straight. I hate it when my hair is tame, silky, and straight! I much prefer it frizzy, wild, and a little dry. My hair stylist (Hey, Keisha) probably hates me because I don't use conditioner most days, but it weighs down my hair. I want bouncy, light hair! Am I alone in this feeling? Anyway, I usually use baby shampoo because it smells good, doesn't hurt my eyes, conditions, and makes my hair curly like a baby's. And everyone likes baby curls, right?

I have to talk about this tee for a second... I am not a wearer of orange. I am also not a wearer of pink. However, this is coral so it's an in between. I hate that I really like it but I just cannot help myself. What colors do you wear/not wear?

When I finished getting dressed this morning I looked down at my outfit. Then I looked at my nails. I was matchy matchy on accident. Maybe I just really like this weird color combo?

It's Tricky

Breakdown:
tee- Target
skirt- F21
belt , jewelry, loafers- thrifted

My hair has been restless lately. These random bangs that came from damage are growing out and make an even more awkward shape than they have been making. This awkward shape is why they are pulled back into a braid today. Tell me, peeps, what are your awkward hair phase tricks? I have a feeling I am going to need a nice mental file cabinet of them these next few weeks.

Or you could just laugh at my "I don't know what to do with my hands" moment.

I use "ever" too much in this post

Last night was the LSU vs. Northwestern game and... I went. Even though I live right outside of Baton Rouge, I had never been to a game. I usually watch on TV or, rather, pretend to watch while I stuff my face with Doritos. Same thing, right?

Well last night was different. Remember DJ/Dennis Junior/Howard? After being on the roster for 3 long (long long long) years, he was informed that he was starting the game! *Insert girlish shriek, embarassing happy dance and tears here* Naturally, Brother and I had to go! I took an obscene amount of pictures but these are my favorites!

Can I give you a little background? Good. Last night was his first ever football game ever to ever play in ever. AND HE WAS AWESOME!!! His last kick (a field goal, I think) was 54 yards! 54 YARDS, PEOPLE! AND IT WAS HIS FIRST EVER FOOTBALL GAME EVER TO PLAY IN EVER! Needless to say, I had a blast! And I don't even know anything about football.

Stupid guy ruining a cool leg-and-arms-out-as-if-he-was-flying shot.

Awkward leg.

Me, DJ, and Brother

Oh, hey Shaq. Just step out onto the field. There wasn't a game going on or anything...

-Sarah

PS: As a matter of fact, I did want to stand up and sing "Go DJ, that's my DJ. Go DJ, that's my DJ..." But I saved my brother the embarrassment.

Zing!

Breakdown:
tee- Gap
skirt- thrifted & hemmed
pumps- Liz Claiborne
rings- thrifted and gifted

I am obviously really into leopard lately... I just can't help myself. Mom found this skirt last week at Goodwill and we hemmed it because it was an awful length! Do you recreate clothes you find at thrift shops to update them?

Speaking of leopard, I was featured on Rachel's blog, A Distinct Style in this post on wear*it Wednesday leopard! Check it out! I have to admit that I didn't know about the weekly wear*it's before Rachel e-mailed me about it. But now I am addicted!

Now for an action shot that is completely embarrassing and weird.

Grainy

Breakdown:
sweatshirt- Eddie Bauer
oxford & shorts- Levi's
tennis shoes- Converse Lo's

Today's weather is perfect! It is cool outside, the wind is blowing, and the sun is shining! This would be the perfect day to sit outside and read or go to the park. So so nice! It was 60 degrees when I left my apartment this morning, which is why I am wearing a sweatshirt. By this time next week, though, I will probably be in shorts and a tank at a whopping 95 degrees. Something to look forward to?

-Sarah

PS: Who else is ready for the DSLR camera to be back? I know you are all tired of the grainy point & shoot photos too. Trust me, I'm ready to be back to normal, too. There's no telling how long that will be, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the grainy pictures.

Queen Hair

Breakdown:
jacket- American Eagle ($11)
tee- Gap
shorts- Express
boots- Clarks
purse- thrifted G.H. Bass
jewelry- thrifted

Today my hair did something strange. More strange than it's usual ball of poof. It's all off my face like a pageant queen. What is that?
Also, TS Lee is gone but left his clouds with us. But he did bring cooler temps. Now I can walk outside without being drenched in sweat within 3 minutes!

Now for some fun[ny] pictures.

Belt Solutions

Breakdown:
dress & sandals- TJ Maxx
cardigan- PacSun
leather belts- Gap (old)
leopard belt- J.Crew Outlet
rings- thrifted & gifted

Some days I look in my closet and am completely dissatisfied with everything in it. Other days I like everything and can't decide. And other days the weather dictates my outfit. That, my friends, is the worst. The absolutely worst. Tropical storm Lee (or did it turn into a hurricane at some point?) is still making it's way through and the rain is constant. We haven't lost electricity or cable/Internet so that's a positive note! I have spent the last 2 days in my pajamas watching TV listening to the wind and rain outside. So nice!

I came up with this outfit last night right before I went to bed. My dress is formal on its own so I added the cardigan to make it more casual. And the belts... let me explain the belts. You see, I am a compulsive belter. I belt everything. This morning I just could not figure out which one to wear, so I wore all of them! Perfect solution, I think. What? Like you've never worn 3 belts before out of indecisiveness.

Lo Roll

Breakdown:
tank- Gap
shorts- Levi's (little boy's via Goodwill)
jewelry & belt: thrifted
shoes- Converse lo's

Over the course of the day I've learned 2 things: I can't keep a straight face when it's diversity day in class, and I probably shouldn't safety pin my cuffs at the seam between my legs because I will be paranoid that they will come out all day. Now that that is out of the way, let's talk about the outfit. I woke up this morning with no idea of what to wear. And unless I wanted to be naked for class, I had to figure out something. This is where Pinterest comes in. Saving the day, one beautiful photo at a time! My outfit was inspired by this pin, save for the knotted tee and long hair. I can't wait for mine to be long again! By this time next year it should be halfway down my back. Patience is hard sometimes.

My legs are still sore from yoga Tuesday night and Zumba last night. It was my first time doing Zumba and I have to confess that I felt a little idiotic. The class was so fast and my feet just don't move like that when steps are explained just once! I am determined to try it again so I don't look like a complete goon at the front of the class. Since I admitted to what makes me feel dumb, what makes you feel like a goon?
