If you have been following me for a while, you may have noticed that I rarely wear my hair up. I just don't like it. My scalp is sensitive, so any ponytails or bobby pins hurt my hair (yes, my hair, not my head). But since I didn't wash my hair before I went to dinner last night (I'm gross)... something had to be done! My hair is a poof anyway and most days I look like a lion, so up it went! I had intended on wearing my turban head wrap, but it felt strange.

PS: My dad told me that I look refined from the waist up and a college student from the waist down. My excuse? I was going to be sitting at a table all night so I only needed to look good from the waist up. It's called rationalizing, people!

For A Casual Stroll

Actin' A Fool

Last night, the American Idol Top 11 performed in New Orleans and... I was there. With my parents. I seriously need a t-shirt that says, "I like my parents more than my friends."

But anyway, it was so awesome to see Casey and Scotty again! Pia and Stephano opened the show, but it was more like a lame opening act at a fair. But then, then Paul came out and sang "Maggie May" which really got people excited! Casey busted out his bass and sang a little Santana and Maroon 5. I then proceeded to make a fool out of myself. 

Since I stalk Scotty on Twitter (I'm addicted to him), I knew that he was next door at the UNO baseball fields watching a game. On the way in, we passed by the field and Mom said that she wanted to go watch the game. Had we gone to the game like she wanted, I could have met my underaged heart throb! I have learned my lesson!

Funny dialogue from last night:

Me: SCOTTYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! (As I was jumping up and down actin' a fool)

Mom: Sarah, I am so glad you're not on the front row, because you would be making a fool of yourself.

Me: I DON'T EVEN CARE THAT HE'S UNDERAGEDDDDDDD!!!

In other words, I had a blast.

This morning I had to get up and take my middle school history certification test. It was mostly governmental and economics questions, so I was obviously confused. For the price of that test, I hope I passed. It is such a pain to give a beloved Saturday morning for a long droning test!

Every Body Every Wear: Thrifted Edition

Today's edition of EverybodyEverywear is to showcase your favorite thrifted find! I sincerely hope they make this a monthly thing, seeing as much of my closet is thrifted and I treasure all of my pieces. But, I had to choose something that is my favorite. So I chose my Cleopatra necklace! Fear not, Christian Dior blazer, you are also my favorite. It's like best friends. You can have more than one, right?

I scored this skirt at Goodwill this afternoon and immediately knew that I would be wearing it today! I had intended on wearing jeans or something simple, but the maxi completed this look. I kept the entire outfit simple so that my necklace could really shine (pun intended)! Bonus, it jingles when I walk.

Had I remembered to take a picture of the "before" of this dress, you might just bow at my mother's feet. It was a gross, long but short sleeved, square dress. BUT the color was fantastic and the buttons are sharp looking! Plus, it buttons up the back for the top half of the dress. Difficult in dressing rooms (as I learned today), but very cute when you're walking away! 

Still on the subject of the dress, does this not look like something the Duchess of Cambridge would wear? Simple, ladylike, easy, but with a twist. If you think so, feel free to call me Princess Sarah, Duchess of the Restoration. I am certainly not opposed.

Today I was extremely lazy. I woke up, worked out, and when I came home I sat in a dark room for 2 hours curled up in a ball. Then I finally showered and had a date with my best friend! We saw a movie and hit up the food court at the mall for dinner. Fine dining, as you know. We people watched and saw a girl who belonged in Tokyo, and there were way too many people for my liking! I prefer to the mall on a weekday at opening. And I like to park at Sears with the old folks where it's quiet and empty. People were everywhere and I couldn't concentrate! After the mall, we went to Sephora and Ulta where I scored a few nail polishes that I have been eyeing for a while now. Good night and good company!

A quick outfit and a little bit of life. I've mostly been doing a whole bunch of nothing for the last week! Aren't you jealous? However, let me share with you some of the things I have been doing besides not getting dressed. Oh, and this dress shrunk at least 4 inches in the dryer. Fabulous.

Imagine the police report if anyone ever reported this guy missing. I could start a "People of Goodwill" website. Maybe I will...

Snowballs at the best snowball stand in town! Wedding cake stuffed and topped with sweet & condensed milk... my mouth is watering as I type and stare at this picture.

My orthodontist is tight with The Beach Boys. No biggie. PS: I have now ground multiple holes in 2 retainers. The things are made of the same material football helmets are made from, so what does that say about me?

I found this Wrangler shirt at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago. One afternoon in June, my old teaching partner and I needed some therapy that had nothing to do with school or school life. So, she stayed with me for a night and we went thrifting. When I picked this shirt out, she told me I shouldn't get it (thanks, Sarah). Luckily, I didn't listen to her, because I love love love this shirt! I like pretty much anything Wrangler, so it was a guaranteed like for me.

To go along with my Wrangler shirt, my hair decided to be extra large today. We'll call it "Texas Hair". Speaking of Texas, I feel a little Kendi in this outfit.

I found these shoes a few days ago while on a Goodwill hopping trip. I saw them, gasped, and snatched them up immediately! Dennis Joonya was with me and he wasn't so sure about them at first. But then I started spewing out ideas of wearing them with my high-waisted jeans and lace dresses and yada yada yada... then he agreed. They are so horrible that they're cool. Plus, they're from American Eagle. And they're recent. Who knew they actually made cute shoes? Not I.

Take a gander at my arm party. While you're staring, say hello to my pet friend, Mr. Stink Bug. I like my bugs daid and in jewelry.

This is my mom and her late best friend in the early 80s. When everyone had big hair and wore acid wash jeans, she stuck to her 70s roots. Recall the dress from this post... the dress she is wearing in this picture is the same pattern. True vintage.

PS: Isn't she gorgeous? She could win a Cher look-alike contest even if Cher was in the running.
