I have been waiting to wear this outfit for weeks. Why, you ask? I don't know. It's nothing extraordinary, but when I found this shirt at Target a few weeks ago, I knew exactly what I wanted to wear with it. I don't know what's taken me so long to do so. I didn't even try the shirt on before the purchase-- I walked up to the checkout counter with the shirt still on the hanger... so you know I wanted it bad! They have the same shirt in pink checks and, even though I'm not big on pink (as in, I don't consider myself a fan), I might go back and snag the pink one. Help me decide? It's the perfect weight and just big enough to be comfortable but small enough to wear with shorts. Plus I can belt it!

Creating a Compelling Voice: New Orleans Fashion Week Blogger Panel

I wish you all could read my exact notes from the Panel Thursday night... they're hilarious! People generally don't understand my notes because I put my own ways to remember things in them. Example: It was sophomore year in British lit class and we were discussing how much of a diva Lord Byron was. So what do I write in my notes and later used in a test essay? Lord Byron's poems are like Cher/Diana Ross songs. Yes, people, I did write an entire essay comparing Lord Byron to Cher and Diana Ross. If you need any other strange ideas that will inevitably get you an A, I'm your girl. Back to the panel, here is the condensed version:

1. Hate your blog name after a while? Just stick with it. It's like when you think of the BEST comeback... 3 hours later.

2. Choosing the brands that you work with depends on your own point of view. Some brands are just not a good fit.

3. Politics on fashion blogs: testy, but in the end, even your personal style could offend people just as much as your political views.

4. Bobby has now coined the term "Mlogger". Trademark it, Bobs.

5. Please, oh PLEASE, use correct punctation in e-mails, posts, and comments. I thought I was the only one bothered by this!

6. Keiko uses big words. I felt like I could have an extremely deep conversation with her about absolutely everything and nothing at the same time. (Seriously: "Keiko uses big words" is in my notes)

7. "Don't get down because you feel like you suck" -MyStylePill

8. Good advice from Bobs: "Don't drink and blog."

Once the panel was over and it was mingling time, I almost sprinted up to Chanel and told her that I was obsessed with her. I'm so awkward.

Rachael and Me! I wasn't kidding when I tweeted yesterday that Rachael is sweet like coconut macaroons right out of the oven. And I can't describe what I'm about to say, but she sounded exactly like I thought she would sound. Is that creepy?

Last night I went to the Blogger Panel for NOLA Fashion Week! As we were driving around looking for a parking space, I saw KeikoLynn, MyStylePill, ThisFellow, and SaucyGlossie on the street and I freaked out. I am such a nerd! Am I ashamed? Absolutely not. I will talk about the event and what I learned more tomorrow... lesson plans need to be written.

I found this skirt about 2 weeks ago and instantly fell in love! The waistband was a teeny bit snug so Mom moved the button over (where it looked like it had been originally) so now I can breathe... even after I eat. When I tried it on, I could instantly think of at least 5 ways to wear it just by changing up the accessories! aka: You will be seeing this skirt a ton in the near future. I only wish that I had a rainbow selection of petticoats. More specifically, red and neon yellow. Or maybe I wish I had a petticoat twice this size. Or a hoop!

Favorites

To say that life has been hectic for the last week would be a monstrous understatement. My first set of huge huge assignments for teaching were due today. The second set was supposed to be due Thursday but got pushed back to Monday... so I now have an extra couple of days to get everything together. You know, since I hadn't started on the second set anyway. I couldn't. Absolutely could not. I was sick all weekend (sinus infection-- darn elementary school sickness!) and am still getting over it. A box of Kleenex is my new appendage.

I hate to disappoint you, but I don't have outfit pictures today. Do you want me to tell you what I've worn the last 2 days? Teacher clothes. AKA: comfortable khakis and a tee. Yesterday, it was Anthro lounge pants (pajama-like but publicly appropriate). Today, wide-leg linen pants. Exciting, I know! However, I have been wanting to do a post on my favorite blogs of the moment, and this seemed like the perfect time to do one! Yay for extra time!

I'm Irish, I Promise!

I promise I'm Irish. Mom's side: Her mom is straight up 50% Irish, 50% Cherokee. She's a fiesty, short, dark red-head. I had my outfit planned like 4 days ago and didn't realize it would be St. Patrick's Day and that I should wear green. Oh well. Let's just pretend that my unmetionables are green!

I wore this skirt last here! I had to judge a science fair at school today and I wanted to look "official" unlike the biology grad students in their nasty jeans, gross tees, and unwashed hair. Ew.

I am sending a few items to Linley and I'm getting a box from Benicia. It's not a permanent swap... thank goodness, because I don't know if I could stand parting with some of my things. That is, unless I fall in love with one of B's things and just skeef it. No biggie, right?

ALSO! I know I told you in yesterday's post that I wouldn't be able to go to any of the NOLA Fashion Week events. I fibbed. I'm going to the Blogger Panel! Woop woop! Keiko Lynn and her beloved Bobby are some of the people on the panel!!! Eeeeeek! I already know what I'm going to wear. It involved polka dots, a petticoat, and red lipstick. You're welcome, world!

New Orleans Fashion Week!!!

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you all know about some REALLY awesome events coming up in New Orleans!  NOLA Fashion Week, produced by #LAisthenewLA, begins next week, I repeat, NEXT WEEK!

There are SO many events to choose from, and I wish I could attend even one of them! However, it is that point in the semester when every assignment is due. AKA: My laptop is attached to my hip and you can usually find me sitting on my bed with a concentrating scowl.

I have to say, though, that the events I want to attend most would be the workshops. A social media/blogger/cool people session is scheduled and you can BET that I will be stalking Rachael LaRoche's Twitter obsessively for tips and things I need to learn! Check out the workshop schedule here!

Designers will be presenting their collections at the Ogden Museum in New Orleans. The runway shows will take place on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26. The schedule for the shows can be found here!

Scroll up and say my title again... like really ghetto. Now imagine me saying it to myself in the mirror when I got dressed. You just witnessed my Wednesday morning. And about half of my class showed up in a shade of purple!

I taught math today and it went pretty well! I went over my time limit, but it was no serious biggie. This outfit is a result of me needing to cover my legs but not wanting to wear pants. So tights it was! Yesterday, I have to admit, I wore a pair of Anthropologie lounge pants to teach in. Basically, I wore my pajamas... cool.

Also, my hair has done this really weird huge wringlet curl right by my face for the last 3 days. Whatev, the fro has taken over. On that note, I remember reading an interview with Kate Hudson in my March issue (I think it was March) of InStyle. Have I ever confessed my obsession with her? She is Goldie's daughter, she's a straight up disco hippie, and we have the same hair philosophy. A little friz makes our hair look better. I know, call me crazy, but my hair looks and feels so much better when it is humid outside! I guess it's a good thing I live in a state where humidity is most peoples' worst enemy!

I would like to thank the idiot who threw this skirt out and gave it to Goodwill. So, idiot, thank you! Because of you, I have this incredibly slfjsalkfdj AWESOME Emanuel Ungaro, I repeat EMANUEL UNGARO (!!!) maxi skirt! Actually, this dress is in my Etsy store (BUY IT). I just borrowed it for the day because I have been dying, dying, I tell you, to wear it! The print is fantasmastic!

I was supposed to go back to school today... but unfortunately, my professor had to cancel class.  Okay, so that's not so unfortunate. Okay, so it's not at all unfortunate. What did I do with my free day, you ask? Slept in, showered (accomplishment!), Whole Foods for lunch, and a teeny bit of shopping! Unexpected free days, I love you!

However, getting dressed today was a challenge. #1: extreme bloat. Yaaaaay. #2: as usual, all of the clothes I wanted to wear today are, you guessed it, at my apt 30 miles away. #3: apparently my waist has expanded due to muscle build up (um, yes. don't laugh) so clothes have to be re-fit. #4: the weather is weird. Sunny, windy, cold, warm in the sun. How does a person dress for the perfect weather?
