The last few days have been hectic and then not hectic at the same time.  Today was the first time in a few days that I have put anything besides a swimsuit or workout clothes on.  It feels good to wear real clothes!

I wore this to my first day of work at a new consignment shop in BR.  I wound up staying for a while to get the hang of things and reaching to the high racks for clothes was difficult because this dress has no give.  My mom found this dress a few years ago at Goodwill.  It was originally a maxi with a big ruffle at the bottom, long sleeves, and a collar that tickled my nose.  We instantly ripped off the collar, cut the sleeves shorter, and cut the skirt to move the ruffle up.  The ruffle looked weird at the length we intended so we nixed the ruffle and made it a mini!  I love the two-tone and the Victorian feel it has to it.

Quilts, Quilts, and more Nieces!

This is my youngest niece, Savannah!  Let me tell you a few things about her: she's 10, she is extremely cool, she likes her lemonheads and Oreos stale (like me), and when you tell her she is strange, she says "thank you".  She is also my favorite person in the entire world.

This is my favorite picture of the day!  No, she is not heavy.  But yes, we tend to have a flair for the dramatic when we are together.

If you can guess which hand game we were playing, I will give you 18 gold stars!

White V Necks, Overalls, and Keds

I took these shots under an overpass last night near my favorite restaurant in the wide world.  The rustic background looked really cool.  What is even better is that on one side of the street is the ghetto, and the other side is overpriced bungalows close to LSU.

Mid skip, or doing the Heisman, or maybe I'm a spaz.  I also felt like a dumbo because two guys were outside the bar enjoying their happy hour drinks.  Needless to say, I got some weird looks!

I made these clip-ons after seeing Scrabble piece rings in a store around town.  Our Scrabble game was already worthless because of all of the missing pieces, so I just added to it's worthlessness. Or did I?

My mommy got me this ring off of ebay.  She used to have dreams that she was Mighty Mouse and would stand on the end of the cow trough and pretend to fly.

A few months ago I randomly decided to start wearing overalls again.  A month later, as I was browsing gap.com, I saw that they had put up a pair of overalls and a jumper!  Boy was I livid!  But I had already been searching for a pair of overalls at Goodwill that were non Tweetie Bird, non Winnie the Pooh, and non Nascar.  Finally I found a pair that were from Limited Too (I had the exact pair in the exact size)!  All I had to do to them was cut them off and cuff them to the right length.

In Reflection

Now that I have had two full days of regular clothes, I must say, it feels good.  All I want to do now is wear white t-shirts and bright colors!  I guess that's what wearing black for a week will do to you.

Here are a few of the side effects of wearing the same thing for a week:
- depression (note to self: if you ever do this again, wear anything but black. Or try again in winter when you can layer)
- inclination to wear usually loathed colors (ex: orange, pepto bismol pink)
- lack of inspiration after a few days
- razor burn (short sleeves next time)
- the feeling that you smell like you have worn the same clothes many days in a row
- the feeling that you are doing the walk of shame for a week
- high school uniform-ish

Positive: laundry greatly decreased

All in all, I am really glad I did this challenge and am proud that I completed it!  Now I can say that I actually wore the same thing for a week, although that fact will not be put on a billboard or anything.

Day 7: The Not-So-Grand Finale

Today was the last, last, last day of my 1 Dress, 7 Days, 7 Ways challenge!!!

I must admit that the thing I am looking most forward to is wearing my white v-necks.  And pants or shorts.  But mostly the v-necks.

Breakdown:
dress- same
shoes- same
earrings and belt- MawMaw

Today's outfit was inspired by complete desperation.  I ran out of ideas and couldn't remember my original last day plan, so red it was!  Now that the challenge is finished, hopefully the clothing shlump will end!

Day 6: 1 Dress, 7 Days, 7 Ways

I am almost done with the 1 Dress, 7 Days, 7 Ways challenge!  At this point, all I want to wear is jeans and a white v-neck.  Later on this week I will do a reflection/side effects of doing this challenge.

Saturday I went to Time Warp and found this lace duster.  I always find something when I go to the store but this visit was about looking in the men's section so I wasn't looking for myself.  Even though I was not looking for me, I still skimmed the racks to see if the store had added anything new since my last visit.  This INCREDIBLE duster stood out to me.  It was one of those "if my mom was here she would make me get this" kind of things. So, without trying it on, it wound up coming home with me and fitting perfectly!

Breakdown:
dress- same
duster- Time Warp Vintage
gold bracelet, earrings, beaded ring- Goodwill
stink bug bracelet- market in Piedras Negras
belt- Trash and Treasure sale in Baton Rouge

I have no idea what I will do tomorrow for my last day of the challenge.  All I know is that my poor dress will be sent to the cleaners immediately and I am unsure if I will ever wear it again. Oh well.

Day 5: Hi, my name is Cleopatra

Please excuse the weird color effects today, the lense decided not to de-fog in a reasonable amount of time.

I found this necklace about a year ago at one of the Goodwills around home.  Again I ask, maybe yell, why do people get rid of this stuff?  WHO in their semi-right mind would get rid of a necklace like this?

Contrary to the look of the neck piece, it is very light and has a fantastic jingle when I walk!

Meet Adriana, my neice!

This is my niece, Adriana!  She has been staying with us for the last 2 weeks and has witnessed a few photo shoots for the blog and I wanted to do one for her!  Her entire outfit is Goodwilled except for the shoes (Wally World).

I would like to say Hola to her friends in Mexico that are reading this... so, Hola!

Her curls are natural.  Are you jealous?  I am!  She has a natural fro and it's gorgeous and beautiful and I wish I had one.
